World Prematurity Day: Preterm Labour Signs Women in Khammam Should Not Wait On

Short answer. Before 37 weeks, go to hospital in Khammam the same day for regular painful tightenings, a trickle or gush of clear fluid, vaginal bleeding, or a feeling that the baby is pushing down. World Prematurity Day on 17 November 2026 is a reminder, not the only day these symptoms matter. Dr. N. Jyoshna Peddineni and the emergency team at Nehrunagar assess labour, the baby’s wellbeing, and whether medicines to help the baby’s lungs are appropriate. Do not wait overnight to see if contractions stop. Emergency care is 24×7. Call +91 93472 34197.

Symptoms that belong in hospital, not in a family chat

A preterm birth is one before 37 completed weeks. Some tightenings in late pregnancy are Braxton Hicks and settle with rest and water. Regular pains that are getting closer, a watery leak, bleeding, or constant pressure are different. Time the pains. If they keep coming, leave for the hospital with your antenatal card.

A leak can be a small trickle, not only a gush. Fluid that keeps the underwear wet, especially with a cough, should be checked. Do not place anything in the vagina and do not wait for a scan appointment the next week.

  • Contractions every 10 minutes or closer, before 37 weeks
  • Watery fluid from the vagina
  • Fresh bleeding
  • Lower backache or pelvic pressure that is new and persistent
  • Fever with abdominal pain
  • A clear drop in the baby’s movements

What the hospital assessment is for

The team checks the cervix, the baby’s heart rate, and whether the waters have broken. Some women are observed and sent home with a plan. Others need admission, medicines to pause contractions for a short time, or steroids that help fetal lungs when preterm birth is likely. Those medicines are prescribed only after an examination. They are not kept at home for later use.

Dr. Jyoshna Peddineni’s labour care in Khammam includes this triage. If you are travelling for a function in November, carry your records and know the nearest obstetric unit on the route.

How earlier antenatal care lowers the chance of a surprise

Urine infections, high blood pressure, twins, a short cervix, previous preterm birth, and bleeding from the placenta are reasons for closer visits. Saying this history at the first antenatal appointment changes the schedule. It does not mean a preterm birth is certain.

Questions patients ask

Direct answers for this topic. Your own plan still depends on a consultation.

Labour that starts before 37 completed weeks. Regular contractions with cervical change are the clinical diagnosis. You do not need to decide that at home. Regular pains, a leak, or bleeding before 37 weeks are enough reason to be examined in Khammam the same day.

Rest and water are reasonable for a few irregular tightenings if you feel well and the baby is moving. If pains become regular, fluid leaks, or there is bleeding, go in. Waiting overnight is how some preterm births arrive without time for steroids.

It raises the chance, so the booking visit should include that history and a closer plan. Many next pregnancies still reach term. The plan may include earlier cervical assessment and a lower threshold to attend hospital.
