Heavy Periods and Fibroids: When Women in Khammam Should Book a Review

Book an Appointment
Woman consulting a gynaecologist about heavy periods in a Khammam clinic

Short answer. Book a gynaecology visit in Khammam if periods soak pads hourly, last more than seven days, come with large clots, or leave you tired and short of breath. Fibroids are a common cause, and so are polyps, hormonal change and, less often, cervical disease. Dr. N. Jyoshna Peddineni at Nehrunagar starts with history, examination and ultrasound. Medicine is often the first treatment. Laparoscopy or hysteroscopy is discussed when symptoms continue or the scan shows a problem that tablets will not fix. Call +91 93472 34197.

What 'heavy' means in practice

A period that stops work, soaks through clothes, needs a pad and a tampon together, or includes clots repeatedly is heavy enough to investigate. Tiredness, hair fall and craving ice can be anaemia from months of loss. A blood count is a simple part of the visit.

Bleeding between periods, bleeding after sex, or any bleeding after menopause is not a heavy period to tolerate. Those patterns need examination even if the amount is small.

  • Flooding or clots most cycles
  • Periods longer than a week
  • A growing lower-abdomen heaviness
  • Pain that is worse than your usual cramps
  • Difficulty becoming pregnant alongside the bleeding

How fibroids are assessed

Fibroids are muscle growths of the uterus. Many are small and need no operation. Size, number and position decide the effect: a fibroid under the lining causes heavier bleeding, one pressing outward may cause pressure, and one changing the cavity can affect fertility. Ultrasound answers most of these questions. A further test is added only if the first result is incomplete.

Tablets, a hormonal device, or iron may control bleeding. Surgery is considered when pressure, anaemia or fertility plans are not met by those steps. Hysteroscopy looks inside the cavity. Laparoscopy is used for selected fibroids through small cuts. Dr. Jyoshna Peddineni explains which route fits the scan, not a standard package.

What to bring to the Nehrunagar visit

Questions patients ask

Direct answers for this topic. Your own plan still depends on a consultation.

No. Small fibroids that are not causing bleeding, pressure or fertility problems are often watched. Surgery is a discussion after ultrasound and a trial of suitable medical treatment, unless there is a more urgent finding.

Often yes. Options include medicines, a hormone-releasing device, hysteroscopic removal of a polyp or a cavity fibroid, and laparoscopic removal of selected fibroids. Hysterectomy is one option for women who have completed their family and want a permanent end to the bleeding. It is not the starting point.

Go the same day if you feel faint, soak a pad every hour for several hours, or have bleeding in pregnancy. A planned clinic visit is right for monthly flooding without collapse.
